Colorado Select Girls Hockey Association is excited to announce the appointment of a new Recreational Director of Hockey, who will oversee all the recreational programs in the association.  Please welcome Bryan Smith to the Select family!

Bryan, who grew up in Michigan, currently resides in Evergreen with his wife, Carisa, and their 21-month old son Waylon.  Bryan says he is “in love with the west and Colorado and will always live here.”  Hockey is a family affair for the Smiths, as Bryan and Carisa, who also played college hockey, met through hockey.  Bryan says he “loves being a papa” to Waylon, and that it “has opened my eyes in so many ways.”

For the past 12 years he has been the owner of Rocky Mountain Hockey Schools. Additionally, for the past four years Bryan has served as the first ever Hockey Director for Summit hockey. He also has several years of coaching experience that not only include six years of boys Tier I and four years of high school hockey with Summit High School, but having coached over 100 games overseas in Europe and Scandinavia.  His coaching experience spans all levels and age groups of both boy’s and girl’s youth hockey.

Bryan also brings significant experience working with CAHA and USA Hockey at both the state and district levels.  Not only has Bryan served as an evaluator the CAHA State Camp, but also for USA Hockey at the Rocky Mountain Player Development Camp.  Brian has also been an instructor for the USA Hockey Coach Education Program (CEP).

When not on the ice or around the rink Bryan has truly embraced the Colorado lifestyle since moving here in 1999.  He and his family enjoy spending time outdoors in all seasons dirt biking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping.

Bryan brings a wealth of experience to the Select and a passion for growing the game of hockey from the 8U level up.  Please take a moment if you see Bryan around the rink to say hello and welcome him and his family to our family.
