Colorado Select U12AA team wins the 2011 All American Girl Hockey Tournament in Blaine, Minnesota on Sunday, November 20, 2011. The Girls when 3-0 to take the championship.
The Tournament started with an overtime shootout win against Naperville, IL based Sabers team. The final for that game was 1-2 and was easily the toughest game the girls had over the weekend of hockey. the second game was also a close game, but was a 2-1 win over one of the local Minnesota teams the Roseville Raiders. The weekend culminated with the Championship Game against another Minnesota team White Bear Lake. The game was not in question as the girls scored in the first 35 seconds of the game and never looked back on their way to a 3-0 win.
The weekend was a great hockey weekend for the girls on and off the ice. They were able to attend a blow out victory by the University of Minnesota Gophers Women's hockey team in which Select alumni Emily West not only scored the first goal of the game, but came and met the girls after the game and signed autographs for everyone!
And of course coming home with the Championship Trophy was by far the best part of the weekend. Especially with the weekend being a complete team victory as the girls played great in all three phases of the game, offensively, defensively and great play between the pipes!
Way to go girls!!!
After two league wins against the Select U14A team this past weekend it's back on the ice getting ready for four straight road weekends.
