The 19AAA and 16AAA players gathered together this past weekend for the opening practice sessions of the season. The teams touched the ice four times with each other as the combined teams' coaching staffs worked the players hard and had a ton fun along the way. The weekend included four on-ice practices, fitness testing, followed by a team breakfast and meeting. After a grueling weekend of hard work, everyone was still all smiles and focused on the goals for the 2015-2016 season!
The two teams will compete in the Junior Women's Hockey League (JWHL) this season and travel for a number of other playing opportunities. The 19AAA team will be under the leadership of new Assistant Director of Hockey and 19AAA Head Coach Karen Rickard, while the 16AAA squad will be directed by returning Head Coach Eric Mayhew. Both teams' rosters are filled with returning talent and some new faces.
The first playing opportunities come when the 19AAA team heads to Stowe, VT over Labor Day weekend for the 14th Annual NAHA Tournament to compete against top 19AAA programs from across The United States and Canada. While the 19AAA team is in Vermont, the 16AAA team heads to Breckenridge for training camp and will faceoff against the Dallas Stars Elite 16AAA team in Dallas on September 12-13. Both teams will begin league play in October with JWHL showcases in Boston.
