CO Select 19AA went undefeated this weekend earning the CAHA 19AA Tier II State Champion Title!!!!
The weekend started with a solid 5 to 0 win over the MSGHL Rock Stars with goals scored by Karly Kochevar, Jenna Hoffmann, Maddy Smith and Kaitlin Paull added 2. Sarah Mullen earned the shutout in goal. Select progressed in the winners bracket to meet our rivals, the Co Springs Tigers, in a tough battle finally winning 2 to 1 with Jenna Hoffmann and Maddy Smith each scoring and Meg Nelson in net. The Championship game would see us facing off against the Tigers again in a very physical and emotional contest. Goals were scored by Jenna Hoffmann and Maddy Smith to see it tied after regulation at 2 all. With 40 seconds left in OT Maddy Smith scores the game winner with a nice assist from Erin Sunshine. Meg Nelson was again the winning goalie. Congratulations on a great weekend of hockey and a well deserved STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!
U19AA Travel to Ithaca, NY for Shooting Stars Tournament
Colorado Select Girls 19AA headed to the Shooting Stars Invitational Tournament in Ithaca, NY this weekend. Injury and illness left the team hitting the road with only 10 skaters to compete against some of the strongest Tier II teams in the NY area. Putting that disadvantage aside these young women outscored their opponents 18 to 7 during their first 3 games guaranteeing them a spot in the Championship Game tomorrow. Seven of 10 skaters have brought home 2+ goals and every skater has contributed a goal and/or assist while playing some very physical hard-hitting hockey. Adding phenomenal goaltending they have exemplified teamwork at its finest! Congratulations 19AA for your great spirit and perseverance. The 19AA played the Lady Patriots in the Championship Game on Sunday and lost 4-2 with K Paull scoring both goals for Select. Great showing at the tournament winning 4 out of 5 games played.
